7th week

Seventh week

For this week, we have to complete the module within the classroom time. As we got only 3 hours (it is still doesn’t enough for us on that moment), thus we try to complete our module as far as we can. We do the print screen, and the steps, and I realize that some tools are not familiar to me, and I feel very interested to try it on. Well, through the three hours, not many tutorials that I can complete. And one more thing, I have a difficulty in downloading the software. With the slow internet connections, I just can have about 3 software at the moment. When I am doing the tutorial, I acknowledged that these tutorials really help us especially to find the source. It just make our searching more easier.

6th week

Sixth week

So, for this week, we were given the module that Pn Foziah has been talking about. We have given the first module that is computing and internet skills. Well, we have to complete all the tutorials in the module, including the 3 tasks within 2 weeks. If you can see how thick the module is, you will hardly breathe at the moment. Before we look into the module, we have been told that there are five modules altogether, and they remain four will be given soon. But to be positive at that time is the exactly way to lower down my anxiety level. Thus, I am thinking that this module is being given for us for good reason; as it will help us know about the resources in detailed and help us for getting various teaching aids.  So, the tutorials are;

·         Downloading (software, video from internet, PDF documents)

·         Uploading

·         Encoding

·         Storing

·         Scanning

·         Burning

·         Sending email

·         Compressing files

·         File conversion

So, from this tutorials, we will be able to know how to print screen (we never learn before on how to do it), and also how to search song, video using quick downloader software, such as moyea and 4shared.

5th week

Fifth week

This week’s lecture is all about designing the technological and non-technological teaching aids. Pn Foziah told us our task in which we need to partner with opposite gender. So, I partner with Mohd Shazni. So, for the task, we need to search and prepare teaching aids for primary pupils. I have to do the lesson plan and teaching aids for unit 3; year 4, 5 and 6 pupils. 

Our unit is based on environment, healthy living and fit as a fiddle. Therefore, we discuss what kind of teaching aids suitable to be used in the classroom and suit to the pupils’ level. We divide the work; as I do the year 4 and 6, while Shazni do year 5. We draw draft for our lesson plan. 

Furthermore, we try to find the teaching aids such as flash cards, pictures, and songs. As our topic is about environment, thus we have specified the topic to pollution; where we will focus on how to save the environment from pollution, and types of pollution. Then, we consult our draft with Pn Foziah. She really helps in giving the ideas for those 3 topics.

4th week

Fourth week

This week is the continuous of the presentation from 3 groups.  They present on the topic; 

Children’s instinct for play and fun, 

The role of imitation and 

The instinct for interaction. 

During their presentation, we take note because Pn Foziah asked us to do so. After that, after all the groups finish the presentation, we have to download software. We have been taught how to use the software in the classroom.

3nd week

Third week

This week is the third week. For this week we need to bring Susan Halliwell’s book entitled ‘Teaching English in the Primary Classroom’. Pn Foziah divides us into groups. We have to discuss the topic in the book. There are 6 characteristics, skills and instincts and they are;

·         Children’s ability to grasp meaning

·         Children’s creative use of limited language resources

·         Children’s capacity of indirect learning

·         Children’s instinct for play and fun

·         The role of imitation

·         The instinct for interaction

I am in group number 3, and we have to discuss the third topic, and that is children’s capacity of indirect learning. In this topic, we have to discuss what kind of teaching materials that can be assumed as indirect learning, as the pupils can learn effectively through indirect learning. Therefore, we need to find something informal such as what kinds of games that can be part of teaching and learning process. We think of what topic they will learn and what example of the games that suit to the topic. For instance they learn about noun. So we find a guessing game that can play noun, such as hang man. After that, we need to do the power point slide show and present. We are the last group to present. The next 3 groups need to present theirs on the next week.

Apart from that, we have been told about assignment 2. For this assignment we have to find teaching aids such as video clip, flash cards, songs based on the KBSR syllabus.
